This interactive course explores the history and development of the occupational therapy profession. Students will be introduced to the AOTA Standards of Practice as a basis for learning the varying roles of the occupational therapy practitioner. Students will engage in weekly topics covering occupational therapy areas in a practice setting. By the end of the course, students will be able to articulate occupational therapy’s scope of practice, differentiate from other health professions, and gain a basic understanding of how dysfunction can impact occupational engagement.
